The South-South Chapter of the Women in Colleges of Education (WICE) held their zonal meeting on Wednesday, 12th August 2026, where members paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Fidelia Chukwudumebi Ighrakpata to congratulate her on her recent appointment as Provost.

The delegation, led by the South-South Zonal Coordinator, Orine Lucky, expressed the association's delight and pride in the Provost's appointment, describing her achievement as "a product of hard work, resilience and determination."

During the visit, a special award was presented to Dr. Ighrakpata in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments and her steadfast commitment to advancing women in academic leadership. Members praised her journey as an inspiration to women educators across Nigeria's Colleges of Education.

Dr. Ighrakpata, visibly moved by the gesture, thanked the WICE South-South Chapter warmly for their support and pledged her full backing for women in college administration. She requested the continued solidarity of WICE members as she steps into her new role, and commended the association for its unwavering commitment to empowering women in higher education.
