This paper examines how political ideologies affect national economic strategies related to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and their role in sustainable development. As the world evolves with new technologies and industries, especially accelerated by recent global events, there is an increasing need for new skills and a strong STEM workforce. However, political beliefs influence how resources are allocated and how STEM education and innovation are supported. The current educational and economic policies, shaped by various political ideologies, often impact the effectiveness of STEM development. Issues such as inadequate support for STEM education, insufficient investment in research, and mismatched skills between the workforce and industry needs create challenges for sustainable development. These challenges include a shortage of skilled professionals in STEM fields, which can hinder progress and innovation. The paper explores how different political beliefs influence economic policies that affect STEM sectors and examines the implications for national development. It discusses how aligning political ideologies with strategic economic goals can enhance STEM contributions to sustainable growth. The analysis also offers recommendations for improving the connection between political decis ions and STEM advancements to support long-term development.

The article contends that social work is politically constructed, that its values, principles and commitments are deeply shaped by ideology through the political dimension at all levels of social work intervention, and that social work needs not only to em brace, but also to reshape its political ideology, discourse and political movements. It is argued that the articulation of social work values and principles are an expression of ideology, and that political ontology of social workers??? lives precedes their epistemological and methodological choices. From this premise, the article claims that socialism informs progressive social work values, and that a materialist analysis can influence our understanding of social problems and social relations within deregulated capitalist societies. Firstly, this article synthesizes the Marxist approach of ideology and its relations with ideology in social work. Secondly, it draws out the key insights about the so-called ???radical??? or ???structural??? perspective in social work, and the commitments and challenges of its advocates. Finally, it explores and proposes insights on the political ideology of social work for the 21st century.

Women play a significant role in food production and food security on agricultural enterprise. In most parts of rural Nigeria, division of labour within the households is gender specific and according to age. Women perform different roles; have unequal decision-making power as well as differences in access to land and control over agricultural productive resources. As a result of these challenges, their views, needs, priorities and constraints to improving their productive potentials differ. This affects th eir various outputs even in sustainable agricultural development. Therefore, understanding of gender participation and constraints in food production, processing and marketing among rural farmers in Nigeria is important due to the current threat to food se curity as a result of the economic recession .facing the country and this calls the need to increase and sustain the enterprise among farmers. Despite the important roles women play in family farming in Nigeria, they are hardly given any attention in the area of training and/or visitation by extension agents with improved technologies, lack of access to Banks loans, are rarely reached with improved seeds, fertilizer, other farm inputs and are highly disadvantaged in economic empowerment for agricultural dev elopment. Government should pay more attention to breaking the gender barriers in farming and there is need to review the existing land tenure system.

Language policy is a delicate issue especially one set in a multi -lingual context as found in Nigeria. The role of language in education as a means of achieving sustainable development in any given society is a truism. Language education in Nigeria is a complex and dynamic field that reflects the intersection of political ideology and national economy in shaping sustainable national development. The dominance of English as the official language underscores the historical legacy of colonialism and the desire for linguistic unity in a multiethnic society. However, the emphasis on English has often marginalized indigenous languages and dialects, leading to concerns about linguistic diversity and cultural preservation. As a result, there is a strong emphasis on teaching English in schools to equip students with the language skills needed for success in a competitive globalized world. Conversely, indigenous languages are often neglected in the education system, potentially eroding cultural heritage and hindering inclusive development. To promote sustainable national development through language education in Nigeria, policymakers must navigate the complexities of political ideologies and economic imperatives. Balancing the promotion of linguistic diversity, cultural heritage preservation, and economic competitiveness is essential for fostering a harmonious and prosperous society. The translation of the students??? performance in their studies through indigenous languages into everyday activities could be seen as development, which would manifest in various forms in the society and the nation at larger. Indigenous language plays fundamental role on issues such as democracy, technology, metalanguage and linguistic globalization. This study recognizes that 64 years after independence that English (the ex- colonial masters??? language) is still the language of education, governance, commerce, judiciary, etc. in Nigeria and as such has hindered equal participa tion of the entire citizenry in governance, access to information and full involvement in government policies and programs. This paper emphasized the need to promote the indigenous languages in Nigerian education system as an alternative to foreign languages for impacting quality education towards achieving sustainable national development. It seeks to answer the question on wh y indigenous languages are crucial component in national development. The paper therefore, recommends that, government, stakeholders, and individuals should put effort towards forestalling exclusion of a representative population, language endangerment and possible extinction of the indigenous languages; this can be achieved through vigorous and regular language preservation and maintenance programmes. A lost language is a lost identity and that amount to a lost race and generation.

The pursuit of sustainable development in Nigeria is intricately shaped by the interplay between political ideology and the national economy. This paper explores how political ideologies???ranging from neoliberalism to social democracy ???have influenced policy formulation and implementation, particularly in relation to environmental sustainability, economic growth, and social equit y. In addition, the paper assesses the role of Nigeria???s economic structure, driven predominantly by oil revenues, in facilitating or hindering sustainable development efforts. The study reveals that inconsistent ideological commitments and economic misman agement have often led to policy discontinuities, underinvestment in green infrastructure, and weak institutional frameworks. Conversely, pockets of success in sustainable development are shown to align with periods of ideological coherence and economic di versification. The paper concludes by proposing a strategic framework that integrates ideological clarity with sound economic planning to achieve sustainable development. This includes strengthening democratic institutions, promoting inclusive economic policies, and fostering a national consensus on sustainability goals. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the political and economic preconditions necessary for sustainable development in Nigeria and offer insights for other resource -rich developing countries grappling with similar challenges.

Writing is one of the essential means of communication. Composition allows writers to express their thoughts using pen, paper, prints and computer. Writing cuts across curriculum, therefore, everybody needs it. It is sad to note that teaching and learning composition writing skill is made difficult because of the traditional method of teaching, still prevalent in most schools in Nigeria. Learners usually encounter difficulties in developing the skills of writing, especially idea generation, organization, sentence construction and paragraph creation, hence, performance in composition and other subject areas are generally poor. In order to cover the existing gaps, digital technology is incorporated in education, most especially in teaching composition writing because it makes learning easier, for example, using mobile phone is affordable, learners can access writing materials using internet. They can connect using devices like google chromes and u-tube. Also, to ensure fluency in their tasks, word and sentence checkers are used to guide learners to create meaningful task. Digital technology gives learners the opportunity to interact with other learners globally through blogs, WhatsApp and emails. In this 21st century, the teacher only guides and gives feedback for learners to improve difficult areas. The study recommended that schools should be equipped with digital technology, especially computers. In conclusion, teachers and educators are urged to incorporate digital technolo

The study focused on digitalization of social studies education with emphasis on the prospects and challenges. The purpose of this study is for social studies educators, school administrators, teacher educators and curriculum developers to understand more about the potentials and limitations of integrating technology such as a digital text. Digital literacy skill not only provides accurate access to information, but also enables students to study on a legal level, in compliance with ethical rules. Digital literacy makes it easier to use information accessed in daily life, to rearrange information, to generate new information, and to critically evaluate information. Against this backdrop, the ???brick-and-mortar??? education approach survives on life support, with digital technologies promoting ubiquitous teaching and learning. Social studies is a course which plays a key role in providing students with digital literacy skills. On the other hand, technology allows a social studies teacher to reach beyond what lies within a classroom. It was, however, recommended that government should try to promote the experience of social studies educators in the use of technology and its integration into student learning. Social studies educators should also endeavour to adapt the civic and socialization role of social studies to blended and online places.

This paper reveals that one of the major causes of insecurity is illiteracy. Nigeria currently ranks among the least educated nations in the world. Some of the traits of illiteracy include gullibility, vulnerability and poverty which are elements of insecurity. In recent times, price-hikes have become such global economic concern because of the ties it has with rising inflation in international economic parlance. Inflation and price hikes are differentiated on grounds that inflation is sustained rising prices across different commodities and that price hikes is just upward change in prices for single commodity. The realities in under-developing economies like Nigeria negate such proposition. This paper was structured to assess price hikes through expected inflation in Nigeria periodic markets. The indices have indicated that increase in a single product triggered price -hikes in other products of varying sectors like cost of education and medical treatment are also affected by a percentage increase in fuel just as it also affects price of food commodities. The issue of "Transaction-Velocity" in periodic markets also comes to play as no exact commodity in these markets assume same price over a second in time difference. Also, price hike is sustained by mechanism of expectations of Nigerians for price to continuously rise, which has worsened situation of the purchase of needed basket of commodities. Price hikes in Nigeria thus have consequences of shrinking household budgets; affects output capacity of the nation when n ot controlled because of expected inflations. Central bank of Nigeria, State and local government have been advised to invest in agriculture and also adopt safety nets to cushion effects of price hikes in periodic mark

In a multi -lingual and divergent ethnic country like Nigeria, social interaction, mutual trust and patriotism are usually very difficult to achieve. In such a pluralistic linguistic and cultural setting, there is always inevitable necessity for people of di verse tongues to interact and operate smoothly in social, political, economic, educational and cultural settings or institutions. If these social interactions are to yield positive and visible results, culminating in growth and development of the individuals and the nation in general, they must be done via a language devoid of mutual suspicion, distrust, hatred and insecurity. To this extent, the English language, which is the only language in Nigeria that possesses the capacity to unify the babel tongues of the various ethnic and linguistic groups, provides intelligibility in inter - personal and group communication in the operation of social structures This paper therefore, traces and provides sufficient evidence to prove that the English language alone holds the key to politics, security and educational system through the provision of level playing group and platform for various divergent l inguistic groups to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the geographical entity called Nigeria. The use of information and communication technology (ICT) as an educational resource is becoming more evident in the educational systems of most countries. When it comes to disability and education, ICT becomes a tool for social and educational inclusion. In recent years, globally including Nigeria, the view has been established that all students, regardless of any element of disability, should have equal access to learning opportunities just as their non-disabled peers. In recent times, Nigeria???s educational system has come under violent attacks such as kidnapping of students. The effect of these attacks has further exacerbated the fragile school system which is antithetical to sustainable and national development. Severa l measures have been implemented to tackle this menace but there are still frequent attacks being experienced in the school environs. If these incessant attacks are not pro-actively dealt with, it will portend a longer term danger to quality of labour force and human capital needed to drive a sustainable economy. Government has tried in many ways to contain the situation including increased budgetary allocation of funds to the security sector, to ???ensure the security of lives and property???. However, the extra budgetary expense on ???security??? has not succeeded in dousing the security challenges in the country and suggests that the frequent attacks on the school system should be securitized and placed on red -alert for the state actors to devote adequate attention and resources towards ameliorating this menace. The need for safety in schools, which include; security of life as a fundamental right, education as an instrument for effecting national development, safety as a basic human need and avoidance of loss of life and property cannot be over-emphasized. This paper identifies reform of the education system as a panacea to the lingering security challenges confronting the nation in the long -run. The paper also recommends mas

The concept of language -crises in Nigeria and its effect on education, language for managing crises was discussed to ascertain the way forward. It is seen that the most important fact about language is that it is a way of communicating meaning or idea and when it is not so the purpose of using language is defeated. We equally see the sit at home order in South East as a big challenge to our educational system. Governments at all levels have an indifferent attitude towards the educational crisis in the country. language use in crisis situations is highly ideological and exhibit features of affect involving the use of flaming, labelling, and some forms of rhetoric that reflect negative evaluation of some perceived social enemies. Negative representations of the attackers are understandably influenced by the emotions of people who are directly or indirectly affected by the crises. The expressions of anger, fear, shock and frustrations in language use occur frequently. However, some forms of labelling and negative constructions of the situation are actually misleading and tend to divert attention to some serious aspects of the crisis in question thereby putting the education system at hold.
