Insecurity has permeated every nook and cranny of Nigeria today. Across the nation different forms of insecurity hold sway. This paper reveals that one of the major causes of insecurity is illiteracy. Nigeria currently ranks among the least educated nations in the world. Some of the traits of illiteracy include gullibility, vulnerability and poverty which are elements of insecurity. A nation with high rate of literacy is peaceful and secured, for a literate person is not irrational. Literacy empowers and enlightens. Crises, conflicts can be curbed if the citizens are equipped with the wherewithal to understand and appreciate the society they live in. This paper is therefore anchored on the theory of relative deprivation which states that insecurity and violence is a result of frustration arising from inequality of the citizens in the society. The paper concludes that if every citizen is exposed to literacy, security of life and property would be guaranteed and recommends among others that education should be made compulsory for all until the age of eighteen.

In recent times, price-hikes have become such global economic concern because of the ties it has with rising inflation in international economic parlance. Inflation and price hikes are differentiated on grounds that inflation is sustained rising prices across different commodities and that price hikes is just upward change in prices for single commodity. The realities in under-developing economies like Nigeria negate such proposition. This paper was structured to assess price hikes through expected inflation in Nigeria periodic markets. The indices have indicated that increase in a single product triggered price -hikes in other products of varying sectors like cost of education and medical treatment are also affected by a percentage increase in fuel just as it also affects price of food commodities. The issue of "Transaction-Velocity" in periodic markets also comes to play as no exact commodity in these markets assume same price over a second in time difference. Also, price hike is sustained by mechanism of expectations of Nigerians for price to continuously rise, which has worsened situation of the purchase of needed basket of commodities. Price hikes in Nigeria thus have consequences of shrinking household budgets; affects output capacity of the nation when n ot controlled because of expected inflations. Central bank of Nigeria, State and local government have been advised to invest in agriculture and also adopt safety nets to cushion effects of price hikes in periodic mark

Schools are crucial in fostering students' mental health and acting as a vital learning environment for acquiring fundamental skills in the social, emotional, and behavioral domains. However, the many consequences of global crises including global conflict s, child abuse, COVID-19, and climate change frequently influence the school climate, having a serious impact on students' mental health. The current study suggested potential roles for educational counsellors in identifying and meeting the demand for ment al health services that support social and emotional growth and wellness for all students. This study, which was based on role theory, explored the scenario of mental health disorders in schools, factors that affect mental health, how global crises affect children, ways to promote mental health, and the role that educational counsellors play in doing so. It was upheld that educational counsellors could respond to the mental health needs of all students by providing instruction that improves awareness of men tal health, evaluation and advice regarding academic, career, and social/emotional development, short -term counseling interventions, and referrals to community resources for long-term support in promoting students' positive mental health.

In a multi -lingual and divergent ethnic country like Nigeria, social interaction, mutual trust and patriotism are usually very difficult to achieve. In such a pluralistic linguistic and cultural setting, there is always inevitable necessity for people of di verse tongues to interact and operate smoothly in social, political, economic, educational and cultural settings or institutions. If these social interactions are to yield positive and visible results, culminating in growth and development of the individuals and the nation in general, they must be done via a language devoid of mutual suspicion, distrust, hatred and insecurity. To this extent, the English language, which is the only language in Nigeria that possesses the capacity to unify the babel tongues of the various ethnic and linguistic groups, provides intelligibility in inter - personal and group communication in the operation of social structures This paper therefore, traces and provides sufficient evidence to prove that the English language alone holds the key to politics, security and educational system through the provision of level playing group and platform for various divergent l inguistic groups to contribute their quota to the growth and development of the geographical entity called Nigeria. Therefore, there is need to review the curriculum of Nigerian education at all levels in line with the prevailing situations. In contemporary society, much attention is given to science and technology thereby less attention on religion. This paper begins with the definition of religion, education and politics. The paper examines the role of religion in education and politics. Religion and politics have equal responsibility in the welfare of citizens and thus, those in authority have the mandate bestowed on th em to act on political and religious matters in a complementary way. Religion and politics share an intimate and complex relationship, however, when properly used, it helps in educating the society. The paper further explains that when people understand the fact that religion is a personal affair, the future of the society will be good. It concludes that dialogue between different religious groups can be arranged to educate the populace on the need for tolerance and peaceful coexistence. This paper recommends that a forum for exchange of ideas and information for common understanding, consensus and cooperation should be created.

Western impositions and toxic impact of globalisation on Nigerian languages and cultures constitute some of the challenges of global crises on Nigerian education system. Quite disheartening enough, these issues are largely neglected by contemporary Nigeria n elite and the masses alike. The aim of this study is to descriptively analyse and show how elitism and negative attitude abet Western impositions and toxic impact of globalisation on Nigerian languages and cultures in contemporary time. Oral and telephone interviews and observation form the primary data. The secondary data are drawn from library and internet textual materials. Descriptive survey and analytic methods, qualitative approach and content analysis are employed. The analysis reveals that elitism and negative attitude of a larger number of Nigerian elite abet Western impositions (e.g. English Language, Western norms, values and systems) and toxic impact of globalisation on Nigerian languages and cultures. Besides, average Nigerians also exhibit ne gative attitude towards, neglect and endanger their indigenous languages and cultures. The wholesome implication is identity crisis over linguistic and general cultural space in the global scene. The study concludes that the identity crisis follows the cul ture clash between Western and indigenous Nigerian cultures and languages, as Nigerians incessantly abandon theirs for Western ones, and thereby endanger and erode them.

The use of information and communication technology (ICT) as an educational resource is becoming more evident in the educational systems of most countries. When it comes to disability and education, ICT becomes a tool for social and educational inclusion. In recent years, globally including Nigeria, the view has been established that all students, regardless of any element of disability, should have equal access to learning opportunities just as their non-disabled peers. The use of Information and Communica tion Technologies (ICT) bridges the gap and contributes significantly to the learning process of all learners especially for learners with special learning needs in the learning process. ICT provides rich learning experiences for learners with disabilities . This paper refers to ICT application in the field of Special Education to include; assistive technology (AT), educational software computers, electronic delivery systems such as radio, television, projectors among others which provides opportunities to approach learning and socialization of individuals and removal of barriers to have access to knowledge by students with special learning needs.

In recent times, the Nigerian School System has come under severe attacks which has led to the destruction of lives and properties and the abduction of many school children. The effect of these attacks has further destabilize the fragile school system whic h is key to sustainable and national development. Government and community leaders need to adopt stringent measures in trying to tackle the menace. Although certain efforts have been made but it has not yet yielded the desired results, as there are still f requent attacks targeting the school environment. If these incessant attacks are not properly dealt with, it will affect the quality of labour force and human capital needed for a sustainable economy. The main concern of this paper is to examine the factors responsible for insecurity and the roles played by Government and other major stakeholders in curtailing or putting an end to these incessant attacks on our educational institutions for the general improvement of education and preparing the education sector for the challenges of the new millennium. The paper recommends that Government and major stakeholders in education must continue to play their leading role in securing lives and properties of its citizenry and ensure that our educational institutions remain secured and conducive for teaching and learning to take place effectively and peacefully and education should properly funded.

In recent times, Nigeria???s educational system has come under violent attacks such as kidnapping of students. The effect of these attacks has further exacerbated the fragile school system which is antithetical to sustainable and national development. Severa l measures have been implemented to tackle this menace but there are still frequent attacks being experienced in the school environs. If these incessant attacks are not pro-actively dealt with, it will portend a longer term danger to quality of labour force and human capital needed to drive a sustainable economy. Government has tried in many ways to contain the situation including increased budgetary allocation of funds to the security sector, to ???ensure the security of lives and property???. However, the extra budgetary expense on ???security??? has not succeeded in dousing the security challenges in the country and suggests that the frequent attacks on the school system should be securitized and placed on red -alert for the state actors to devote adequate attention and resources towards ameliorating this menace. The need for safety in schools, which include; security of life as a fundamental right, education as an instrument for effecting national development, safety as a basic human need and avoidance of loss of life and property cannot be over-emphasized. Nigeria is known as the giant of Africa. The land is blessed with so many mineral resources, yet those involved in managing the affairs of the land cannot take proper care of their people. As a result, the nattion suffers insecurity, bad governance, corruption at its peak, poverty, and lack of basic amenities, unemployment and to crown it all poor management of educational system which ranks one of the poorest in the world in the area of education. In educational sector, corruption erodes social trust, promotes mediocrity, and undermines development. The type of corruption in the school systems ranges from academic exploitation of teachers and lecturers??? dehumanization by the Nigerian politicians. Bribe ry and nepotism has taken over our educational system as teaching appointments are based on connections not by merits thereby leading to promoting half baked graduates that cannot compete with their counterparts elsewhere. The ASUU strike has lingered for more than eight months, yet the government cannot resolve the issue. This paper tries to critically look at corruption and bad governance being the cankerworm that is destroying our education. It also examines the causes and demands of ASUU, and tries to f ind lasting solutions that can promote the educational system in Nigeria. In the same vein, it suggests how to end the ASUU strike and promote our educational system for a better Nigeria.

This paper sought to find alternative means to mitigate the crisis in that sector. Using documentary sources, the paper canvassed for creative innovations to address the crisis in the tertiary education in Nigeria by first exploring the role of tertiary education in national development agenda, and situating the bane of tert iary education in Nigeria to include underfunding and the lacuna in institution and industry relationship as found in most advanced countries of the world. Based on these, the paper suggested among others, that there should be a long -term national development plan and a comprehensive tertiary education policy situated within the long-term developmental objectives of the country which will provide direction for institution- industry linkage; and there is the need to compose all tertiary education regulatory a gencies into a single agency to be known as National Council for Tertiary Education for adequate regulation of tertiary institutions in line with the new institution-industry linkage.

This paper discussed the Nigerian education system endangered through global crises; proper use of language as a reform. The concept of language -crises in Nigeria and its effect on education, language for managing crises was discussed to ascertain the way forward. It is seen that the most important fact about language is that it is a way of communicating meaning or idea and when it is not so the purpose of using language is defeated. We equally see the sit at home order in South East as a big challenge to our educational system. Governments at all levels have an indifferent attitude towards the educational crisis in the country. language use in crisis situations is highly ideological and exhibit features of affect involving the use of flaming, labelling, and some forms of rhetoric that reflect negative evaluation of some perceived social enemies. Negative representations of the attackers are understandably influenced by the emotions of people who are directly or indirectly affected by the crises. The expressions of anger, fear, shock and frustrations in language use occur frequently. However, some forms of labelling and negative constructions of the situation are actually misleading and tend to divert attention to some serious aspects of the crisis in question thereby putting the education system at hold.
